OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:

Rootin' Tootin' Clay Shootin'
The Lawn Institute Shooting Clay Tournament

Monday, February 20th -  8:00 am - 2:00 pm

Clay ShootingThe Rootin’ Tootin’ Clay Shootin’ Tournament was so popular last year that we’re repeating it in 2017! This fun-filled event is a great way to support The Lawn Institute and help fund research, education and scholarships for the turfgrass production industry. The event challenges teams of four to compete at different stations to determine who aims to outshoot the competition. The sharpest shooter in the competition and the winning team with the most skilled marksmen at hitting their targets will win bragging rights and awards. Whether you are an experienced clay shooter or have never tested your skill at this engaging sport, it’s an exciting competition and a great way to socialize with other members.  Make plans to take your best shot at this popular sport.

Treasurers of Tampa by Water & Land Tour

Monday, February 20th - 8:30 am - 2:15 pm

Tampa TourGuests will be picked up at Saddlebrook Resort and travel south into Tampa and the docks on Hillsborough Bay.  On arrival guests will board their private water taxi and explore some of the treasures of Tampa! Explore the coastline of Hillsborough Bay and the Hillsborough River. Tampa’s bay and the river are much of the reason that Tampa sprang up along this coastline and became what it is today. Up and down the river you will see treasures from bygone eras as well as some of the newer treasures of today.  Traveling along the river you will quickly notice the multiple minarets of the Tampa Bay Hotel, now University of Tampa, and continuing along the river you will notice a large red brick building sitting at a turn in the river which was where the old trolley’s would come to rest at night before rumbling down the track early each morning. It’s at this point that your group will disembark and after a brief stroll past the springs (formerly Tampa’s fresh water supply) step on board their motor coach and travel quickly to the Tampa History Museum for a deeper look into Tampa’s History. Then it’s on into Ybor City an important link in Tampa’s history and former Cigar Capital of the World.  While in Ybor City guests will hear about this former hub
of the Latin community with its vibrant cigar stories. Lunch will be at the famous Columbia Restaurant..
