We are writing in the hope that you can offer some advice related to a problem we are having in Poland. Every year we have snow mold disease on our soccer field turf. The field is heated until December 5th and the disease appears the following March.
To fight this disease we would like to use a mix of the Iprodione and Chlorotalonil fungicides.
Our question is, when should this fungicides be used and in what proportion? Please note that we do get snowfall in December.
Any information you can provide regarding this issue would be highly appreciated.

You did not mention which snow mold you are trying to control or what grass specie you are growing, this information could make a difference in my response. However, it is best to apply the fungicides when the daily average air temperature is below 55 F, and it is wet and cloudy. It is also best to apply the fungicides as late in the season, and before snow. This will allow the fungicides the most time to manage the pathogens under snow cover. If you get a break from the snow and can re-apply in the winter, do so. Most disease development will be in January through March. I would also recommend that you do not fertilize from now on, as this will increase the predisposition of the turf to disease. For snow mold, use the highest recommended rates that your allowed to use.

Dear Mr Wilkins

Thank you for Your kind information. In Poland we have a problem with Microdochium nivale. This disease kills Lolium perenne sometimes on our football pitches.

Best wishes from Warsaw
